The CityNorwich in the World of Darkness, is a twisted, menacing version of the place we know. The gangs rule the streets and organised crime dominates the underworld. The Church is stronger because people always turn to it in times of crisis. Architecture has a menacing gothic flavour to it and the problems of society are very much like our own, but exaggerated and vampires are responsible for much of the misery. The government is corrupt, the culture is bankrupt, and the decadent mortals revel in the flames of the final days. It is a world where the forces of evil and entropy are even more powerful than in our world. The Camarilla The Camarilla is the largest single sect of vampires as well as the most open; theoretically any vampire may claim membership, regardless of lineage. It's primary concern is the maintainance and preservation of the Masquerade, and they enforce the Traditions. The sect was organised in the 14th Century in response to the growing influence of the Inquisition. Norwich is a Camarilla-owned city and the Kindred meet regularly at Conclaves, presided over by the Prince. Conclaves can be held at either Clan-owned sites or at Elysium sites. The SabbatThe Sabbat is rumoured to have evolved from a medieval death cult. Little has changed since then. It is the largest sect next to the Camarilla and is organised in units known as 'packs' which are strongly loyal to one another, feeding and travelling as one group. Two clans dominate the organisation; the Lasombra and the Tzimisce. Members of the Sabbat revel in being vampires and have little if any regard for humanity, seeing it as little more than a food source. The Anarchs These vampires reject the Traditions of Caine and the dictates of the elders who enforce them. Although arguably members of the Camarilla, the anarchs are vocal in their desire to see Kindred affairs change from the status quo. And many more Other supernaturnal creatures inhabiting this world are the Garou (or werewolves), wraiths, mages and hedge witches, mummies, the Fey (or Changelings) and probably some the Kindred have never heard of.
